What the college says

You will develop the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing - through the study of various aspects of German contemporary society. Grammar will be taught in one main block, then intermittently revisited over the course period, independent modules of listening and reading will be undertaken on a fortnightly basis. You will work with a range of authentic materials such as magazine and newspaper articles, German websites and films as well as the Edexcel German for A Level coursebook. Work experience in Germany is a recommended aspect of the course, as too are conferences run by native speakers. Students are expected to use one private study period per fortnight to take part in oral sessions run by our FLA (Foreign Language Assistant). These sessions are compulsory.

A GCSE points score of 50 to study A Levels and GCSE German Grade B

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
