at Paget High School, Burton-On-Trent · school or sixth form

Level 3A levelsGCE A level2 yearsFull timeFree

What the college says

During the course you will learn about … • Aspects of German Speaking Society (Families, the Digital World and Youth Culture) • Multi Culturalism (Immigration and Integration) • Artistic Culture (Festivals and Traditions, Art and Architecture, Cultural Life in Berlin) • Political Life (Germany and the EU, Politics and Youth, German Re-Unification and its consequences) • A film and a book (ooooh! German Literature!) • A research project of your choice To begin with, the syllabus develops and extends the work we covered at GCSE, so you don’t need to worry about not understanding or feeling out of your depth – we ease you in to new language gently and give you a sound base to work on. What we do focus on, is giving you the tools to talk about your opinions and what you think and feel.

What you need to get on

You will do three exams at the end of the course. A Listening, Reading and Translation paper, a Writing paper and a Speaking paper, where you talk about the topic areas you’ve studied over the year.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
