If you enjoy History, it would be wise to take this subject as a Sixth Form option. If you enjoy a subject you are more likely to complete the work required to obtain the necessary grades for the university or employment of your choice. The History Department obtains very good results with 73% of students obtaining an A*- B grade in 2013. If you are not sure of what you want to do in the future, History is a good option for you as it develops all the skills demanded in a range of professions. These are skills of research, assimilation of a wide range of material, analysis and judgement. Course availability is dependant on a minimum number of students applying.

What you need to get on

For applicants who wish to study 3 A levels and an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) they will require an Attainment 8 Score of 60pts to include at least a Grade 5 in Mathematics and English Language. A minimum of a Grade 6 is required in the subject to be studied at A level. For applicants who wish to study 4 A levels they will require an Attainment 8 Score of 68pts to include at least a Grade 5 in Mathematics and English Language. A minimum of a Grade 6 is required in the subject to be studied at A level.
