Mathematics equips students with a uniquely powerful set of tools to understand and change the world, including logical reasoning, problem solving skills and the ability to think in abstract ways. Through these tools, students will develop the framework to think logically and communicate precisely in a range of quantitative and other contexts. A maths qualification is very much in demand, and will certainly be a key to open up many opportunities for the holder.

What you need to get on

Our entry requirements are five grades awarded 9–5 at GCSE/L2 merit or above at BTEC/CTEC equivalent including a minimum of GCSE Grade 5 or above in English & Maths. Strength in algebra is essential. Students may only take Further Maths if they have chosen Maths, as another of their A-level options. A GCSE grade 7 in maths is essential.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
