What the college says

Drawing, painting, print-making and three-dimensional work are the four main areas of study in Fine Art. The course will include still life, figure drawing and landscape as well as more conceptual work. Sketchbooks are used extensively to record research and the development of your ideas, feelings and observations through projects. An experimental approach to the use of media, materials and ideas is encouraged. Researching and referring to the work of other artists is an important element of the course. There will be opportunities to visit local and national galleries and museums to enable you to experience the work of contemporary and historical artists at first-hand. As you enter the second year the emphasis is very much on enabling you to express and refine your individual response to one major project, through increasingly personal and independent work.
