What the college says

A Level English Literature covers a range of set texts from different genres and time periods. You will study texts varying from Shakespeare's Othello to Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale. You are required to read texts in a variety of ways and respond critically and creatively explore connections between texts establishing links and relationships use literary terminology and draw on your understanding of different interpretations. Aspects of journalism writing rhetorical questions communication and more specific concept ideas will also be studied.

What you need to get on

You need to have achieved 5 GCSEs grade 9/A* 4/C including English Language and Maths and a grade 5 or above in English Literature. You will also be required to complete a GCSE to A Level Transition Project prior to enrolment to prepare you for A Level English Literature.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
