The course is suitable for those who have an interest in reading a wide variety of literature, anyone who enjoys expressing their opinions and justifying their comments, people who appreciate studying a subject which is relevant to their own lives and experiences, and those who would like to keep their options open for further study. English Literature is recognised as a facilitating subject by Russell Group universities and provides a useful grounding for a wide range of courses in higher education or for future careers. Lessons will be taught in a style which reflects the lecture and seminar style of university, preparing students for life beyond the sixth form. The analytical aspect of English Literature encourages students to probe and question, vital skills for both university and the world of work. You also need to be highly independent to succeed in English and will be equipped with strong research skills, preparing you for the world of work beyond university.
What you need to get on
Grade 76 in English Language and English Literature (the 7 can be in either Language or Literature) As well as these specific requirements you will also need to meet the general entry requirements for the Sixth form - please see website for further details.
