This course take a historic approach to the study of literature and focuses on reading texts within a shared context. It works on the belief that no text exists in isolation but is a product of the time in which it was produced. The specification is designed to: Deliver as much choice as possible for teachers and candidates. Develop interest in and enjoyment of English literature , through reading widely and through experience of an extensive range of views about texts. Encourage candidates to develop as informed , independent readers and critics of literary texts. Develop personal responses to literary texts.

5 GSCE Grade 9 to 5 with Maths and English Grade 5.
