Why should I take this course? In studying English Literature you will explore the psychology of characters, the motives of writers and the political, social and historical contexts in which texts were written and read. Course structure: Core content: Love through the Ages (Shakespeare/Poetry) Texts in Shared Contexts (Prose Texts) Independent Critical Study: Texts across Time Options: Option 2A: WW1 and its Aftermath Option 2B: Modern Times: Literature from 1945 to the Present Day What careers might this course lead to? The skills obtained through studying A level English Literature would be of benefit to students who wish to study Law, Forensic Science, Psychology, Business... the list goes on. In the work place, the communication skills developed through English study would benefit anyone who wishes to move up to management level.

5 GCSEs including English language at grades 9-5 and Maths at a minimum grade 5
