English Literature is designed to encourage wider reading and advanced, detailed research within a whole field of literary studies. Students will build on their GCSE studies to analyse and compare a range of literary texts. This is a facilitating subject and complements many other subjects, leading to careers and university studies such as: Business, Teaching, Health careers, Journalism, Law, Media, Performing Arts, Creative writing and Criminology.

What you need to get on

Students must achieve a minimum of 6 GSCEs at Grade 4 or above. English Language at a minimum of Grade 6 or above. English Literature at a Grade 6 or above.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
