A Level English Language - English Language will appeal to those of you with a general and wide interest in both spoken and written language; in the history of language and how and why it changes; and in how we acquire language. Some of the course will be entirely new to you; other aspects will continue from the English Language course at GCSE. Why study English Language at A Level? Studying this subject: • Encourages you to develop your interests and enjoyment in the use of English through learning more about its structures and functions • Enables you to learn to express yourself in speech and writing with increasing competence and sophistication • Helps you to understand the use of language in different contexts • Allows you to carry out your own research into an area which interests you

Standard Entry Requirements including GCSE Grade 5 or above in English Language. You must be fascinated by language use.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
