A Level Drama & Theatre Studies

at Harris Academy Chobham, London · school or sixth form

Level 3A levelsGCE A level2 yearsFull time

What the college says

AS Drama and Theatre Studies focuses on taking a play from the page to performance. Candidates begin by exploring two contrasting plays and learning about one recognised theatre practitioner. The approach is mostly practical with a high level of analysis. Through written and practical coursework assessment, students will demonstrate their understanding, practical skills and ideas. At A2, students embark on an exciting project where they draw on all of their experience, research and ideas to develop an original piece of theatre. Assessment is through rehearsal process, performance and on a detailed supporting written evaluation. A final written exam gives students the opportunity to explore a play from the point of view of a Director and to develop production ideas.
