What is Digital Photography? Digital Photography it is a way of visually recording, documenting and presenting both the ordinary and extraordinary, it is explored as an art, but also as a practice in many different forms. It is often considered an art form, an aspect of self-expressionism, a journalistic process or even an aspect of visual culture. Over the course of two years students will complete four units of coursework. The first unit of each year will be an exploratory unit where students will extend their photographic ability and techniques, digital editing skills, using state-of-the-art software, creative sketchbook development, mixed media techniques and evidence of a high level of critical understanding. The second unit of each year will be a themed body of coursework set by the exam board. The research, development and experimentation during this time will lead to a timed examination at the end of the year in response to the theme. The department promotes individual creativity in a supportive and diverse environment. Whilst studying you will be given advice regarding valuable work experience, which is often an attractive attribute to university admissions and future employers.

Five Grade 5s at GCSE and at least a 5 in Art OR portfolio at this standard

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
