The structure of this course allows students to advance their design and making skills by demonstrating their creativity through a substantial independent design and make project. Students will develop their research, analysis, product development, project planning, prototype manufacturing, testing, modification and evaluation skills. The course also develops knowledge and understanding of the principles of Design and Technology which is tested as a written examination.

What you need to get on

C grade at GCSE in Product Design or a relevant Design and Technology Subject. If you have not studied Product Design at GCSE you will be required to produce a portfolio of your work in April of Year 11.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
