There is no coursework on this course. However, your performance during practical activities will be assessed. There are three exams at the end of the two years for A-level, all of which are two hours long. At least 15% of the marks for A-level Biology are based on what you learned in your practical work.

What you need to get on

To join the course you will need GCSE triple Science (Grade 6 or above in Biology) or GCSE Combined Science (Grade 6 or above) and GCSE Maths (Grade 5 or above). You should have an interest in the study of living things and should be prepared to participate in the annual field visit.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
