The full Advanced GCE has four units, two from each year. Unit 1 Coursework: you will have opportunities to generate practical work, ideas and research from primary and contextual sources. You will experiment with media and processes, and develop and refine your ideas. Unit 2 Externally Set Assignment: The paper consists of one broad based thematic starting point. You will develop preparation over a period of time and sit an 8 hour exam. Unit 3 Coursework: incorporates two linked elements, each with separate final outcomes: Practical work, providing the opportunity for you to pursue your own creative ideas and the Personal study of 1000 3000 words is linked to the practical work and requires you to produce an illustrated dissertation on a selected aspect of others art. Unit 4 Externally Set Assignment: The paper consists of one broad based thematic starting point. You will develop preparation over a period of time and sit a 12 hour exam.

What you need to get on

5 GCSEs at grades 9-6 with grade 5 in English language and mathematics, and a grade 6 or above in Art and Design or a merit at BTEC First Diploma/Certificate or equivalent
