A level Art & Design offers students the opportunity to explore and develop their creative skills through a variety of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and digital art. This course encourages critical thinking and personal expression, while fostering an understanding of contemporary and historical art practices. With a strong emphasis on practical skills and research, students will refine their technique, conceptualise original ideas, and build a personal portfolio. Ideal for those aspiring to pursue further studies or careers in the creative industries, A level Art nurtures both artistic talent and intellectual curiosity.

What you need to get on

Our entry requirements are five grades awarded 9–5 at GCSE/L2 merit or above at BTEC/CTEC equivalent including a minimum of GCSE Grade 5 or above in English & Maths. In addition, some subjects require a GCSE Grade 6 or above in specific entry requirements (see pages 12 and 13). For the A level programme a level 2 BTEC/CTEC Merit counts as an equivalent GCSE Grade 5.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
