What the college says
A Fine Art based course which explores drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, montage, mixed media, photography, papier-mâché sculpture and sculptural relief. Coursework is composed of project work which explores a variety of media and disciplines and develops student’s skills within a range of materials and techniques. Students are encouraged to research and investigate project themes in a variety of ways. They will explore and develop ideas in response to project themes. The development of creativity and imagination are essential elements of the course. Students will be expected to investigate and analyse the work of other artists, art movements and art ideas to broaden their experiences and understanding of the subject, to feed into the development of their ideas and art skills, and to enrich their learning. A level Fine Art will also enable students to develop an understanding and interest in the cultures of the world in which they live. During Year 12 Students will also develop written and oral skills in analysis, explanation, expression, description and evaluation. In their final Year 13 coursework project students write a 1000-3000 word illustrated study which relates to, supports and deepens their understanding of the subject matter they have chosen to explore in their final practical and creative project.
