The NOCN Level 2 Award in Youth Work Principles is designed to be an introductory qualification to enable learners to understand the ‘basics or principles of working with young people in a range of youth work settings. It is designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to engage effectively with young people in various settings. From youth clubs to educational environments, understanding how to communicate and interact with young people is crucial for their development and well-being. This qualification equips learners with the tools to engage meaningfully with youth, fostering positive relationships and promoting personal growth.

What you need to get on

There are no formal entry requirements for learners undertaking this qualification. However, you must demonstrate that you have the appropriate level of English to complete the written tasks. You are expected to be at, or working towards, a Level 2 standard. We can also support you with skills check if required. A pre-enrolment, informal interview, by phone, to check your suitability and eligibility will take place with an advisor.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
