The Vehicle Damage Panel Apprenticeship covers many skills including removing and replacing of body panels to complex tasks including the use of body jigging equipment to welding using the latest technology, tools and equipment. An Apprenticeship is a vocational, work-based programme that demonstrates competence and knowledge. With a combination of on-the-job training and assessments, and training through an approved body, Apprenticeships demonstrate the individual's competence to do a job to a national standard. In addition to the core Apprenticeship requirements, there are separate requirements which include, Maths, English, ICT, Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS). Practical and theory aspects of removal and re-fitment of light vehicle body panels. Repairs to body panels. Motor vehicle construction and layout of major vehicle systems and components. Use of measuring instruments required in vehicle body repair. Removal and re-fitting of vehicle components and units. Health and Safety awareness in motor vehicle repair work shop. Working within groups and as an individual. Responsibility for personal actions taken.

Apprentices without Level 2 English and Maths will need to achieve this level and take the test for level 2 prior to taking their apprenticeship end-point assessment.
