What the college says

You will learn about the wide range of jobs across the media industries; how media gets messages across to audiences; and the process for making ?products? such as television programmes, internet pages and radio. By the end of the year you will have begun to gain familiarity with several kinds of digital media software for making video, audio and web products. You will also have learnt the basics of using video cameras, digital stills cameras and sound recording equipment.

What you need to get on

Selection is by an interview. You should have:-At least 4 GCSEs at grade D and above (one must be English or Level 2 Literacy Key Skills) or a BTEC Foundation Certificate.-A good reference from school or other organisation.-Portfolio evidence of your own creative work in art, design or photography is useful, although not essential.Applications are welcome from mature students and a good portfolio and/or previous experience may be accepted in place of formal qualifications.

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
