What the college says
This course is designed to be both informative and enjoyable. You will learn a range of practical, hands on art and design skills to include Drawing, Painting and 2D/3D Processes. You will also learn about the work of practicing artists. The course is aimed at students who have a real enthusiasm for Creative Art and Design and who wish to improve their portfolio of artwork to progress onto a Level 3 course.
What you need to get on
You will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs including English and maths Grades 9-3 (formerly Grades A*-D). Alternatively, successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification and have achieved a Level 1 Functional Skill in English and Maths. We would also require a portfolio of current artwork. This could be examples of drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography, textiles, design etc...
How you are assessed
One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.

Approved for 16 to 18 study on the government's Section 96 list.
