If you enjoy researching places to visit, and planning activities to do whilst you are on holiday, you will enjoy travel and tourism. It will also allow you to learn about the industry as a whole, including the types of organisations that we classify as 'travel and tourism businesses' and how they work together to form a sector that is of significant importance to the UK economy. You will study: *Components of the travel and tourism industry. *Different types of destinations and their importance. *Principles of marketing in travel and tourism. *Visitor attractions. This course is designed so that you learn all of the above and much more, you will cover all of the different features of the industry over the 2 years of study. On this BTEC course you are required to demonstrate your learning through two portfolios of coursework, one external examination and one externally marked task. The course is designed so that two units on this course are assessed through portfolios of coursework produced by students. These pieces of work are assessed by your teachers and external markers. Students will be set a task on global destinations which is marked by an external marker. Students will also undertake an examination entitled 'The world of travel and tourism', which is marked externally. Work is graded at a Pass, Merit or Distinction Level.
