This is a challenging course combining highly creative skills, practical making skills, materials knowledge and a broad understanding of the world of manufactured products. It builds on the experience of a GCSE in Design and Technology. You will carry out a series of design and making tasks in a range of materials to build up your skills, experience and understanding. You will also study materials and manufacturing issues in preparation for the exam component.

What you need to get on

College Entry Requirements: Minimum of 5 good grades at GCSE, including English and maths at a strong pass Subject Specific Requirements: GCSE in resistant materials, graphic products or systems and control. Pass at grade B is recommended.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
