Interested in the care and welfare of animals and want to increase the depth of your knowledge in this field Then youve come to the right place. This level 2 programme is designed to produce a competent animal care employee by teaching basic handling skills and developing your understanding of the biology and health of certain species. You could be studying units including Animal Biology, Animal Health and Animal Welfare. Your skills could then be developed by progressing to the level 3 qualification. All our lecturers are well qualified and experienced animal carers, and will teach you the best way to look after a wide range of creatures including lizards, snakes, rabbits, spiders and lots more. You will learn through a combination of lectures, discussions, presentations, assignments, practical work and trips You will be assessed in a variety of ways including projects, assignments and practical work This is a study programme which includes English, maths and work experience in addition to your main programme

What you need to get on

Four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including English or maths at grade D/3 or above.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
