The Foundation Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship is designed as a one-year, full-time course covering the fundamentals of business. Successful students will then progress to the second year as a top-up programme. This study programme will develop skills in marketing, finance, innovation and business planning for starting up a business or for us within an existing business. The qualification supports students who choose to enter the self-employed market to progress directly into employment, as the transferable knowledge, understanding and skills will give successful students an advantage in applying for a range of "school leaver" programmes in management. Students can also progress onto apprenticeships in areas such as business administration, marketing, accounting, sales or enterprise, innovation and growth, or to a further year of study at level 3 should students wish to progress to university. Modules covered on this programme include: Enterprise and Entrepreneurs Developing a Marketing Campaign Personal and Business Finance Launch and Run an Enterprise Innovation and Enterprise Social Enterprise The programme is enriched with industry links and employability opportunities to enhance progression opportunities and develop the skills required of the industry.

What you need to get on

Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English and maths at grade C/4 or above.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
