What the college says
The BTEC Extended Diploma is a work-related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands and focus on: Economics, ICT, Law and Marketing. You should enjoy completing coursework and undertaking research if you choose to study this course and your time management skills should be excellent. This two-year course is equivalent to three A Levels and helps students to enter employment or to progress to Higher Education. Students visit appropriate workplaces and College Business Partners regularly deliver lectures in their areas of expertise. The course is made up of eighteen units - four core units and fourteen specialist units - taken from a range of pathways. The specialist units explore particular topics in depth and develop specialist skills. Core units include: The Business Environment, Business Resources, Introduction to Marketing, and Business Communication. Specialist units include: Accounting, Human Resources, Management, Law, Administration, Retail and general options.
