In this Swing Dance course you will be learning to dance the Lindy Hop! An African American social jazz dance from the mid-twentieth century that is as popular today as it has ever been, we'll be building a repertoire of basic steps and variations to be able to enjoy social dancing together. Each half term will end with a fun, practice social dance in our lovely studio. Honouring the originators and subsequent innovators of the dance, we'll be utilising our mid-session break time to watch short film clips of Lindy Hop through the ages so that our dancing today respects the roots of its past and carries forward its creativity, sense of community and fun.

What you need to get on

You must have taken the 3-week Beginners Course, or be able to demonstrate the 6-count and 8-count Lindy Hop figures to take this course. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, have any serious health conditions or a history of injury. Please inform your tutor if there is any physical activity you have be advised to avoid.
