RSL Music is based on the practical skills of performance and a knowledge and understanding of the musical profession. A popular unit is the 'Music Events Management' as this unit is concerned with all the roles involved in putting on a successful live performance. From the marketing manager to the stage manager, from the composers to the performers, all roles are equally as important. The emphasis of this unit is on an active contribution across several areas, including, but at the same time, going beyond rehersal and performance. Learners will explore the different roles and processes involved in the live music industry giving them an awareness of the jobs available and the organisational processes that combine to make a successful event possible. Learners will need to focus on commercial considerations. Throughout the course learners will reflect upon how music constantly interacts with society, rather than simply being a separate disconnected static art-form unrelated to its context. This course allows learners to enjoy an in depth study of the factors influencing this relationship and shows how all people working with music, including Professional musicians, artists, producers and engineers, amateur music-makers and audiences, access and utilise the ability of music to enrich the contemporary society in which they live. The mandatory units introduce learners to the many roles in the music industry, the expectations fo the music industry and the possibilities of freelance
