What the college says

The PreAccess course is a 1 year fulltime course for motivated individuals aged 18 or over who want to develop study skills and subject knowledge at level 2 in preparation for a Level 3 Access to HE course or who do not have sufficient qualifications to be accepted on to an Access to HE course currently. The course will result in an NOCN Level 2 Certificate in Skills for Employment Training and Personal Development qualification. You will also be given the opportunity to study GCSE or Functional Skills English and/ or maths qualifications as part of the course which are also required for progression to the Access to HE courses.

What you need to get on

For entry on to the preAccess course students should hold Functional Skills Level 1 or above in English and maths. However formal qualifications may not be necessary for entry to this course if you are able to demonstrate relevant industry experience or evidence of other work training.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
