What the college says

The Human Element Leadership and Management Course (HELM M) gives all masters and senior officers the required education and training at the management level, meeting the knowledge, understanding and proficiency (KUP) requirements set out in STCW tables A-II/2 and AIII/2 for senior ships officers. The course is based on MNTB criteria and approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). You will gain effective leadership and management skills to enable you to control the operation of the ship and care for persons on board at the management level. This course is a mandatory element of the suite of requirements for officers seeking their second Certificate of Competency in either a deck or marine engineering capacity.

You need to hold the Human Element, Leadership and Management at the Operational level (HELM O) certificate and eitherhold a certificate of competency (COC) orbe an experienced seafarer with at least 12 months seagoing experience
