What the college says

The 2 year PE course will encourage students to immerse themselves in the world of sports and PE with the chance to perform or coach a sport, and delve into the how and why of physical activity and sport. Students will receive a well-rounded and full introduction to the world of PE, sport and sports science. This complete grounding in the subject provides a fantastic base from which to build when they move on to higher education, employment or further training. The course is divided in to four components: (1) Physiological factors affecting performance (2) Psychological factors affecting performance (3) Socio-cultural and contemporary issues (4) performance within PE. Components 1,2 and 3 are worth 70% and will be assessed through formal examination. Component 4 is worth 30% and is asssessed internally and externally moderated.

What you need to get on

Students should have at least 6 GCSEs 9-4 including English and Maths. Grade 5 or equivalent in PE and/or a grade 5 in Science.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
