Sociology
at Turton School, Bolton · school or sixth form
What the college says
What makes a family? Why are some people poor and some rich? What influence does school have on us? What happens when someone commits a crime? Is crime linked to poverty or ethnicity? How big a part in our society is religion? How and why do people join cults? If you are genuinely interested in the answers to these questions, and many more, then Sociology is the course for you. At Turton, you will be working with specialist teachers who use a range of teaching and learning styles and strategies to support and engage you. Sociology receives consistently outstanding results year on year and this is, in part, down to the partnership between the teachers and their students. We organise trips to London, university open days and visits to subject conferences.
