Religious Studies is designed to enable learners to develop their interest in, and enthusiasm for, a study of religion and its place in the wider world.Religious Studies will encourage students to: ? Develop their interest in a rigorous study of religion and belief and relate it to the wider world? Adopt an enquiring, critical and reflective approach to the study of religion? Reflect on and develop their own values, opinions and attitudes in the light of their study.? Have a thorough understanding of diverse philosophical and ethical viewpoints.? Develop an understanding and appreciation of religious thought and its contribution to individuals, communities and societies? Gain critical and evaluative skills sought by higher education and employers ? particularly in law, education, social work, politics, medicine, administration and the media.? Engage in a thought provoking subject and the contemporary themes covered will induce engaging, relevant discussion.? Consider the major issues, challenges and questions within religion (for example, the role of tolerance, respect and recognition and interreligious dialogue, methods of study, relevance to contemporary society) and responses to these.

What you need to get on

Grade 6 in GCSE RE. If you have not studied GCSE RE, a grade 6 in English Language and evidence of a strong interest in RE will be required.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
