Religious Studies A Level consists of a 2 year course of study covering three key components: a study of Christianity; philosophy of religion; and religion and ethics. The study of Christianity provides learners with the opportunity to undertake an in-depth and broad study of their chosen religion covering themes ranging from religious figures and sacred texts to practices that shape religious identity. It is divided into 4 themes: Religious figures and sacred texts; Religious concepts and religious life; Significant social and historical developments in religious thought; and Religious Practices that shape religious identity. The Philosophy of religion component provides learners with the opportunity to undertake an in-depth and broad study of fundamental philosophical themes, ranging from arguments for the existence of God to the use of religious language. The final ethical component provides learners with the opportunity to undertake an in-depth and broad study of fundamental ethical themes, ranging from ethical language and thought to freewill and determinism

What you need to get on

In addition to meeting the 6th form entry criteria students must achieve a Grade 5 or above in Religious Education if taken at GCSE. Otherwise a Grade 6 English Language GCSE.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
