at The Netherhall School, Cambridge · school or sixth form
What the college says
This course will involve you in the study of religion, philosophy and ethics. This course follows the AQA Religious Studies specification for first teaching from September 2016. The religion studied for the religious part of the course is Christianity. Students must study all 3 elements of the course (religion, philosophy and ethics) to gain an A-level. The course runs over 2 years and students will be expected to continue studying through the full 2 years and sit their external examination at the end of the course. Assessment This course is assessed through 2 examinations of 3 hours each, at the end of the second year of study. Exam questions are in the style of essays and there will be a synoptic section, which requires students to draw on everything they have learnt over the 2 years. Students will be expected to master the skills of showing knowledge and understanding of the theories, concepts and issues discussed. They will also be expected to be able to analyse and evaluate theories and question their usefulness or validity.
