What the college says

In studying psychology at De Lisle we look at various different approaches which attempt to explain what makes us the way we are. This involves looking at the extent to which our mental life and behaviour may be accounted for by our biology, environmental conditioning, cognitive processes, and the conscious and unconscious aspects of the mind. We also look at the practical application of psychology: for example, in how we define, explain, and treat mental health problems; in the origins and explanations of apparent gender differences; and in how to best foster healthy psychological functioning. This A level would lead directly into subject related university courses and careers, and indirectly into a wide range of higher education courses and career choices. BSC (Hons) Psychology - BA (Hons) Social Science - Careers in healthcare e.g. Clinical Psychologist - Careers in education e.g. Child Psychologist
