This course is suitable for those who prefer to be assessed through examinations at the end of year 13. Nationally the A-level course is popular because it enables you to maintain your mathematical and second or third science subject when applying for certain courses. Psychology is a scientific subject that explores how our minds dictate and influence out behaviour. From understanding this, psychologists sim to address problems and issues that we see in society today. Psychology is an academic subject which is useful for many professions such as medicine, nursing, social care, teaching, legal occupations and sports. It also covers a wide range of topics so you become knowledgeable about the key issues and debates within the discipline of psychology.

What you need to get on

A minimum of a grade 5 in English literature or language and mathematics. You also need one of the following combinations from the sciences: Grade 5 in biology, chemistry and physics separates or trilogy Grade 5-5 from the double award It is beneficial to also have at least one grade 6 from these core subjects.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
