Psychology helps you to understand the people that you come in to contact with every day as well as developing a deeper understanding of your own behaviour. It is a highly sought after subject at top universities. Psychology uses a mixture of theory and practical experiments to understand behaviour. Topics covered include: Social Psychology whereby we look at issues such as conformity and obedience, why do people commit genocide? Cognition, how does our memory work and how are we able to improve it, why do we forget? Developmental Psychology, how are our attachments formed and what purpose do they serve? Psychopathology, looking at the development and explanations for different mental disorders, who decides what is �normal�? Biopsychology, looking at the interaction between neural connections and disorders and behaviours. Romantic relationships and their formation, maintenance and dissolution. While studying Psychology, students will look at the works of Freud, Milgram and Zimbardo and evaluate their studies whilst considering ethical issues. Studying Psychology at A Level opens not only many career paths, but also provides you with a skills set you can transfer to almost any vocation. Psychology prepares you for a broad range of future career opportunities and is valued in any profession where you have to deal with people � from medics to marketers, armed forces to advertisers and teachers to therapists � Psychology gives you a valuable insight into mind and behaviour.

5 GSCE Grade 4-9 including Maths or English
