Psychology is one of the Social Sciences and is the study of human behaviour and experience. It is about studying people and why we think and behave in the way that we do and how we develop. The first year of study offers a broad range of topics including a study of babies attachment to their mothers, abnormality and how others influence our behaviour. There is also a research component which examines the methods psychologists use to study human behaviour. In the second year, there are a range of topic based options which bring together explanations from different approaches which engage students with issues and debates within contemporary psychology. The topics include an examination of gender, eating behavior, addiction, biopsychology, phobias, OCD, as well as a research unit.

What you need to get on

Minimum requirements at least five 4 grades at GCSE and grade 5 in either English (language or literature). GCSE 5 in Science

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
