This creative and thought provoking qualification gives students the practical skills, theoretical knowledge and confidence to succeed in a number of careers, especially those in highly sought after Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M) and creative industries. Students will investigate historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic influences on design and technology, whilst enjoying opportunities to put their learning into practice by producing prototypes of their choice. Students will gain a real understanding of what it means to be a designer, alongside the knowledge and skills sought by higher education and employers.

What you need to get on

Students should have completed a GCSE Design and Technology course, attaining grade 5 or above in any area of the subject. Candidates may also be considered without prior experience if they have achieved acceptable grades in GCSE Maths, English and Science.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
