We are a special school for pupils with learning difficulties and have a Post 16 department. Students attend our course full time and have timetabled activities designed to improve their confidence, communication, social interaction and independent living skills. We help our students learn these skills by carefully differentiating and personalising the curriculum to meet individual student needs. The programme of study includes functional Literacy and Numeracy, Shopping, Meal Preparation and Home Management, Health and Fitness, Enterprise, Accessing the local Community, Independent Travel training, Work Experience with a placement, Social Skills, Transition Planning and Creativity. We also cater for pupils with PMLD who have a curriculum designed around 4 key areas of Cognition, Communication, Physical and Personal Care and Independence. It is our aim that pupils gain the knowledge, confidence and social and self advocacy skills to take an active role in their local community and lead safe and healthy lives.
