What the college says
This is a two year A Level course. In Politics you will develop a critical awareness of the nature of politics and the relationship between political ideas, institutions and processes. You will also have the opportunity to learn how the British system differs to other political systems and the arguments for and against reform of the present system. The A level course will involve you studying key UK political issues including the nature of the welfare state, key economic and law and order issues, immigration and the politics of the environment. You will also study the European Union and examine its significance on the process of policy making in the UK. Students are invited to be active members of our politics Blog, which provides daily news feeds on political issues and allows students to discuss and comment on these in relation to their studies.
