The A level physics course remains a broad course, ranging from mechanics, electricity, waves and quantum, all the way up to astrophysics, nuclear and particle physics, and also medical imaging. It is a linear course, with synoptic assessment in all aspects, and all exams taken at the end of year 13. Throughout the two years experiments are conducted and practical skills are assessed in class. Students are awarded an A level grade, with an additional ‘Practical Endorsement’ dependent on their performance in these practical assessments.
