A Level Physics is a very high status subject, a facilitating A Level, and a good result in the subject carries great weight when it appears on a CV or UCAS application. It is the most fundamental of all of the sciences and is essentially the study of matter and energy. Our chosen specification is modular and includes the basics of many major areas of research. Anywhere! Physics is called a facilitating subject as it is recognised by the top Universities as a subject which keeps the most number of choices open when choosing a degree. A qualification in Physics can also be a real advantage in employment and careers helping you to stand out from the crowd. It tells employers that a candidate has good analytical, number and communication skills. It is an obvious requirement for all of the various Engineering, Physical Science and related disciplines, however, physics students have gone on to study Medicine, Law, Computer Science and a whole range of other subjects. I also know of Physicists who have utilised their number and analytical skills in other high powered professions in the City of London. An obvious advantage as a subject to sit alongside Physics is Mathematics; the subjects complement each other in several areas. Physics students undertake a lot of number work and mechanics and clearly the mathematical skills gained in A Level Maths will support this.
