Measurements: Use of SI units, prefixes, estimating errors; Particles: Nuclear radiation, particle physics, particle interactions; Waves: Progressive and standing waves, interference, diffraction; Mechanics: Vectors, energy, projectile motion, Newtons laws of motion; Electricity: Current and voltage, sensor circuits, motors and generators; Practical Skills: Data analysis, interpretation and presentation; Further Mechanics: Forces, circular motion, simple harmonic motion; Thermal Physics: Thermal energy transfer, molecular kinetic theory; Fields: Gravitation, planets and satellites, magnetism, electric fields; Nuclear Physics: Radioactive decay, fission and fusion, nuclear reactors; Medical Physics: Vision, hearing, biological measurements, imaging techniques and therapy; Assessment will be by three 2-hour written papers taken at the end of Year 13.

What you need to get on

CAPS 5 plus grade 6-6 in GCSE Combined Science (if Separate Sciences are undertaken 6-6 including 6 in Physics). Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics is recommended. Students that are not taking A Level Mathematics are strongly advised to consider taking AS Level Core Mathematics.
