What the college says

Our course is a must for inquisitive students who need to know “Why?” It sets the challenge of understanding the universe and everything in it. We deliver the course in a way which helps students interpret the physical world and inspires them to pursue the big questions. The Physics course provides a route to university courses in physics and other subjects in which physics is a key component. Outline of the course content? Measurements and their errors, skills assessed as practical coursework (part of the Practical Endorsement Certificate) and will be examined in the written papers. Particles and radiation-quantum particles, particle classification and the photoelectric effect Waves-Wave properties, superposition, stationary waves and double-slit interference. Mechanics and materials-momentum, collisions, explosions, density and elasticity. Electricity-current, potential difference, resistivity, internal resistance and potential dividers. Further mechanics and thermal physics-circular motion, simple harmonic motion, internal energy and changing state. Fields and their consequences-gravitational, electric and magnetic fields, field strength, electric potential and capacitance. Nuclear physics-radioactive decay, binding energy, fusion and fission. Engineering physics-rotational dynamics, inertia, thermodynamics and engines. What key skills will I learn? This course provides numerous opportunities to use practical experiences to link theory to reality, and equip students with e
