You will enjoy this course if you have a passion for exploring and understanding the world in which you live and are looking for a fulfilling, interesting and challenging A level. You will enjoy problem solving, practical work and discussing the key fundamentals of the universe. You will develop your understanding of physics, through written, research, problem solving and a strong emphasis on practical activities. “From cancer treatment, to tackling climate change, gaming to robotics, bioengineering and artificial intelligence, physics and physicists are on the frontline shaping the future”. The A level course is about how matter interacts from the very small to the very large. From quantum phenomena to the laws of gravity and relativity. Physics allows you to study the laws which define, movement, space, time, matter and everything in between. Answer such questions as “Why don’t penguin’s feet freeze, “Where did the universe come from and how might it end”, as well as study more practical applications such as radiotherapy and engineering.

What you need to get on

Five GCSEs grade 5 or above, including grade 7 in Physics or 7-7 in Trilogy

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
