What the college says
The study of Physics is huge in its scope, through attempting to understand the nature of energy and matter – in other words, it covers almost everything. From the unimaginably small components of matter to the mind-blowing vastness of the universe, we will give you a broad overview of the core ideas that underlie Physics and the advances we have made in understanding them. Qualities and skills required to study Physics • Strong Maths Skills – 40% of the marks on the assessments will require the use of maths skills. • Good Practical Skills – Students will be expected to carry out several required practicals and take careful measurements and show safe working skills. • Analytical Skills – Students should be able to look at data and identify patterns and trends. • Enthusiasm for Physics – Being interested in topics such as astronomy, engineering or mechanics will help to tie abstract concepts to real-life examples. • Good Organisation and Study Skills – Physics is a demanding course and students will need to be organised with their notes and home learning in order to keep up with the pace.
