Physics is both a theoretical and a practical subject. It needs to be studied in conjunction with A Level Maths. The first year is a mixture of topics giving students a taste of engineering skills and particle physics. This provides variety and also helps students consider whether they wish to study a particular aspect of Physics or Engineering when they apply for University or Apprenticeships at the start of Year 13. The second year has a more detailed look at topics which require A level Maths skills.

What you need to get on

Five grade 5's at GCSE, including English (Langage or Literature). In addition to this students will need a grade 7 in Maths and be studying it at A 'Level and grade 7 in either Triple Physics or Combined Science.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
